My G.G. Grandfather, John Taylor, was a 1st SGT in Co. G of the 8th Alabama Inf. Reg. during the Siege of Petersburg. I also have his Muster Roll Call where he was admitted into General Hospital, Petersburg on the 24th of June, 1864 due to wounds. I’ve attached a link from the “Alabama Department Archives and History” on the 8th Alabama Infantry Reg. written by Colonel Hilary A. Herbert and edited by Maurice S. Fortin. Hope this helps.
Thanks Tim! That’s an excellent source. I’ll make sure I go get myself a copy for my collection.
