  • Note: The 14th United States was ordered to the field on an unspecified date in (presumably late) March 1865, arriving at City Point, Va., April 4 per Dyer’s Compendium.  However, the Official Records lists the 14th US as part of the Provost Guard already on March 31.  More research is needed.28,29
  • Note: Apparently only the Second Battalion of the 14th United States was present on March 31, 1865.  This distinction is not called out in earlier orders of battle in the Official Records.  More research is needed.30
