Muster In: Organized with six companies from the 2nd Artillery Regiment ca. May 1862.  Also known as 2nd Infantry Battalion.  Battalion disbanded per S.O. #303, Adjutant and Inspector General’s Office, dated December 22, 1864.  Order apparently not carried out.1
