A Singular Coincidence.

Major Clifton K. Prentiss, of the Fifth Maryland Infantry, was wounded in action before Petersburg, Va., April 2, 1865. He was carried back to hospital at City Point, where he afterwards found his brother, Major Prentiss, of a confederate regiment. Both were badly wounded and their cots were moved near together. The long summer wore away and the brothers, whose wounds were beyond the reach of surgical skill, were gently moved to the Armory Square Hospital at Washington. Death came finally as a relief, when within a week of each other the hands of both were folded across their breasts and the grave received them.1
