FROM PETERSBURG.
The enemy shelled Petersburg vigorously yesterday. This announcement has ceased to be news. There was no other item of intelligence from that city yesterday, except a report that the Yankee army had received information of the nomination of McClellan by the Chicago Convention, and this we do not believe.1
