February 8, 1865
Robert E. Lee sends a report to the Secretary of War pointing out that he had to suspend military operations during the Battle of Hatcher’s Run due to the lack of meat to sustain his men. He further cautioned that if this condition of affairs persisted, a disaster could be expected.
