Maj. Gen. John G. Parke, USA, is placed in the command of the 9th US Army Corps, the Richmond, VA Campaign.
The X Corps, USA, crossed the pontoon at Deep Bottom and attacked the skirmishers from Field’s division, CSA, who composed the Confederate left flank, driving them back to New Market Heights, the Richmond, VA Campaign.
