The 7/28/2011 Syracuse Post-Standard has a blog entry on John Lockwood, captain of Co. F, 111th New York. Lockwood was wounded at both Gettysburg and the Wilderness prior to being captured at the Siege of Petersburg during the Second Battle of Ream’s Station on August 25, 1864. Lockwood was sent to Salisbury, North Carolina, and he was shot while in prison there during an attempted prisoner transfer. Lockwood is presumed to be buried in a mass grave at Camp Salisbury, North Carolina.
