Hampton Newsome on Darbytown and New Market Roads: October 7, 1864

Hampton Newsome, author of Richmond Will Fall, has a great post up today at his blog Ransack Garret and Closet.   Newsome covers the October 7, 1864 Battle of Darbytown and New Market Roads in the form of a William Waud drawing of the battle.  In the post, he takes a detailed look at some of the things Waud’s drawing tells us about the battle and shows readers the approximate position and direction Waud was looking while creating the sketch.  Go check it out!
