The Petersburg Progress-Index reported today that Petersburg National Battlefield will be holding blank firing artillery demonstrations on Saturday, February 20 at 1, 2, 3, and 4 p.m.:
PETERSBURG – Beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, blank firing artillery demonstrations will be conducted at Petersburg National Battlefield’s Eastern Front Visitor Center, 5001 Siege Road, located just off Washington Street.
After watching a firing demonstration by Purcell Battery gunners, visitors will be schooled in artillery drill and given an opportunity to participate in a non-firing demonstration followed by another blank firing. Demonstrations will take place at 1, 2, 3, and 4 p.m.. More frequent demonstrations may take place if an audience is present until ammunition is exhausted.
