Over at Ransack Garret and Closet, Richmond Must Fall author Hampton Newsome covers a sketch of the October 27, 1864 Battle of Darbytown Road, the third such battle in the area in October alone. Newsome makes the argument that William Waud, not his more famous older brother Alfred, made this sketch. He goes on to examine the sketch in detail and pinpoints the direction and viewshed the artist had from the Johnson House, Butler’s headquarters. It’s a fascinating read on an almost unknown battle.
